Born and raised in Central NY State, Fr Edward Hopkins entered the Legion of Christ in 1980 after graduating from Thomas Aquinas College in California that same year with a degree in Liberal arts. He studied Humanities in Salamanca, Spain, Philosophy at the Gregorian University and Theology at the Angelicum, in Rome.

He had the grace of being ordained with a group of 60 Legionaries of Christ, (including 2 of his brothers), by St. John Paul II on January 3rd 1991, celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Congregation.

He has worked in several ministries during seminary training including work with university students, youth work and dean of students in a catholic high school in Mexico.

After ordination he has worked as vocation director and in youth ministry, offering spiritual direction, retreats, missions and apostolic formation to youth and young adults.

He now works in the New York Tri-State area with the formation of lay apostles as Section Director for Men and women in the Regnum Christi Movement, as Spiritual Director and Director of Spiritual Exercises, with Pre-Cana marriage preparation, Marriage retreats and Couples ministry.
