About

One of the many joys of my priesthood is to live in a community of priests who are on fire for spreading the faith. I am inspired daily by their love for Jesus Christ, their testimony, their prayer, their hard work, and their preaching.

Each Monday we gather for a little rest around the fire and share stories of our work of sharing the Gospel. I’ve often left our fire side chats thinking how good it would be if someone captured all the preaching that had been done throughout the week and put it one place. I kept waiting for someone else to do it until I realized that I probably should.

So, inspired by our talks around the fire, welcome to “afire”. It is the preaching of the Legionaries in the NY Tri-State, inspired by the charism of the Regnum Christi movement. My prayer is that it will be for you something of a “fireplace” where you can find light, warmth, and inspiration as you come closer to Jesus Christ.

Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful and kindle in them the fire of your love!

God bless,

Fr Jason Smith, LC

  1. Thank you so much Fr. Jason for creating this site. i look forward to each new homily that is posted. I do a lot of driving every day and now instead of listening to all those vitriol radio talk shows and endless radio commercials, I now login into your blog via my iPhone, prop my iPhone on my dashboard and listen to one or two of the homilies during my drives. So inspirational and helps to keep my thoughts and actions centered on the light and love of Jesus and how I can apply that in the daily ups and downs of life. God bless you for the wonderful work you do!

  2. Dear Fr. Jason Smith, last Sunday, Jan. 31, 2016 at the 11:00am Mass at the Holy Trinity, in Sherman, CT, something very special happened. You touched my heart and the souls of so many at Mass in a way that probably showed THE HOLY SPIRIT at work.

THANK YOU!!! Waiting for you to return in March, I will keep you in my heart and prayers and I will keep that fire burning. May God bless you and may HE keep you setting our hearts on fire.
    Arrivederci.
